Mind-Body TherapiesHealing and optimal living involve wholeness in all areas of mind, body and spirit. Our practice and teachings encompass the many factors that promote well-being, including the foods we eat, physical activities and exercise, reducing stress and enjoying our lives, developing fulfilling and loving relationships, and celebrating life. Science for Health and Energy, Inc. offers information and educational programs in a full range of integrative and complementary healing modalities. The human body has an amazing ability to heal itself. The key to treatment of illnesses which modern (allopathic) medicine deem incurable, such as heart disease, arthritis, diabetes and other potentially chronic problems is to promote the body's own healing mechanisms. Our work begins with finding answers that address the root causes of health problems and aids in restoring normal healthy body function. Our work's goal is emotional, physical and spiritual growth, and our success is optimal living. Dr. Norris' background in the scientific study of medicine and the toxicity of drugs and environmental chemicals has lead to her interest in the science, the art and the practice of complementary and alternative healing modalities. Through her personal experiences and her research and teachings, Dr. Norris has found optimal living in her own life, and shares this with her students. What is Mind-Body Therapy?Drawing on the natural ability of the body to heal itself, you will learn a variety of mind and body techniques for enhancing health and well-being. This training is also beneficial for people not currently experiencing problems with their health, who wish to learn mind-body awareness skills to enhance well-being and prevent health-related issues. "A merry heart does good like a medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones." — Proverbs 17:22 Empowering skills taught include:
"First of all, basic care should be self care. People should learn how to become more self aware, learn how to relax, to meditate, to eat right, to exercise, to touch their bodies, to get help and support from other people. That's the heart of medicine. The second piece of it should be to use therapies that you need a professional for in a way that really promotes your own capacity for healing. And only when all of that doesn't work should you use drugs and surgery. I therefore think the priorities of the present system have to be completely reversed." — James Gordon, interview with Peter Chowka, 1996 Whether you are seeking optimal wellness, relief from stress, or prevention of disease, mind-body therapy has proven beneficial for people with arthritis, cancer, diabetes, heart disease, depression, fatigue, fibromyalgia, menopausal issues and severe stress.
Customer Testimonial "As a consequence of scoliosis, I lived in constant discomfort with my spine askew. Over time I experienced a sequence of debilitating lower back and hip injuries due to this misalignment and the resulting unsustainable attempts to compensate with my own maladjusted movements and posture. With the most astute perspective and detailed guidance Dr. Deborah Norris has helped me to relieve the discomfort of my scoliosis and to begin the process of realigning my spine. Through comprehensive attention and care to the specifics of my condition Dr. Norris leads me through practical exercises of the body, and of the mind, that facilitate opening areas of tension and strengthening areas of weakness, and additionally contributing to a general state of wellness. Dr. Norris possesses the means to help one discover what is truly at the root of an area of concern, and to then provide insight for the conditioning which is necessary to transcend that concern. I feel deeply fortunate to have made her acquaintance and think of her as a mentor in what I consider a very significant recovery in my life." |
